My name is Abe Leite, and I believe that now that creation is threatened, it’s the last thing we should do to return to the old partisan alignments of the past. The challenges facing us are unprecedented, and whether through government regulation or community action, it is time for all of us to play our part in protecting our earth.
I’m a junior at Bloomington High School South, and I strongly support new and innovative solutions to help our country mitigate the consequences of climate change — through proactive measures lowering our emissions and through preparations for the inevitable changes we are already beginning to see. I think it’s time for facing climate change to become a non-partisan issue.
I have been a member of the Unitarian Universalist church for years, and my faith in our power and responsibility as stewards of this planet has inspired me to join this group. I’ve had great experiences with ICEY demonstrating for climate action, volunteering to weatherize homes, and lobbying for sustainable action, and I’m looking forward to doing more good work with them in the future!
