My name is Sidrah Din and I am a senior at Bloomington High School South. In my free time, I love to run, play violin, and participate in the community in any way I can. I am a member of the youth group at the Islamic Center of Bloomington, which is how I was introduced to ICEY. I joined ICEY recently this year, and it was a fantastic decision. I was really made fully aware of climate change last year in AP Environmental. After that class I was a lot more informed about why certain human actions are bad for the environment.
I believe in helping reduce human impact on the planet in every way possible. Even though some actions may seem small, such as turning off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth, all of the little things add up. I think it is important to get involved in acting to reduce our impact on the earth. It is especially important that youth get involved because it encourages other people to get involved, too.
Not only is it important to work to reduce your impact on the environment, but it is also important to get others to follow in your footsteps.
I can’t wait for future projects ICEY has. Our last event was on MLK Day, where we weatherized homes in the community, and over 100 people came to volunteer. The fact that so many people came and were so enthusiastic to get involved makes me very excited to see how many people ICEY impacts.
I look forward to posting more!
